Why buy toys?

Does anyone else ask themselves that question? When I get ready for the day I lay out an abundance of toys for Haylee to play with. Well, for some reason they just aren't doing it for her. Instead of playing with her toys, she ventured off into my cupboard (literally) and started taking out my stuff. It started with deodorant, then it was on to contact solution, anti-bacterial gel, hair gel, face cleanser, nail polish remover, and lotion. She was quite the busy girl! Then when I took everything away from her and put it back, she crawled on over to our door's "boingy thing." Needless to say, I don't think I will ever have to buy her a single toy ever again! That's actually very unlikely, but you get what I mean :)

Haylee's toys
"I think I'll see what's in here instead..."
"What Mom? I'm not doing anything"
"I better get all the way in here to get the good stuff"
Haylee's new toys
And when I took all of my beauty products back...
Still not interested in any baby toys

Just for kicks and giggles

I have seen a few people do these recently and thought it would be funny to do it for our family. Since Haylee is adopted I wanted to see if I could confuse the look-alike meter. A lot of people actually do tell me that Haylee looks like her mommy, but I was curious to see if that was true. Well, it looks like the meter agrees. I was just waiting for a WARNING sign to come up and tell me that it couldn't process my request :)

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall...

Who is the cutest baby of them all? I think it's a tie! Keili came over last night to get her 1 year old pictures taken and after she was done, Haylee and her were playing with themselves in the mirror! It was the cutest thing ever. Keili was even giving herself kisses :) One of Haylee's favorite things to do is play with herself in the mirror. She claps, laughs, screams, shakes her head, and dances. I think it's safe to say that she is ALL GIRL!

Picking Pumpkins

There is a huge pumpkin patch not too far from our house, so Brett and I decided to spend some family time last night and head on over to pick our pumpkins! I have never been to an actual pumpkin patch before. We usually grab our pumpkins out of a cardboard bin in front of a grocery store. Going to a pumpkin patch was much more fun! We are going to make it a tradition from now on. On top of getting pumpkins we bought some yummy local grown apples, pears, and pine nuts. Haylee also had a good time and loved riding in the wheel barrel! Our camera was going crazy, so it was hard for me to pick my favorite pictures to post, so here are just a few...

Tricky Mommy

Haylee is now 10 months old and her mouth is still full of gums! So, when it comes to feeding her it gets a little tricky. She will no longer eat baby food; the texture makes her gag! On top of not wanting to eat baby food, it is almost impossible to get her to open her mouth to regular food. She literally buttons her lip shut and puts her nose up in the air! Well, the other day we had shakes with our lunch (I know healthy) and I gave Haylee a little taste. Needless to say she loved it! And after she had her little taste of shake, she opened her mouth up to a piece of sandwich! Believe me, that never happens. So, yesterday when we were eating lunch I thought, maybe if I give her a taste of something sweet, she'll eat for me again. It worked! I gave her some chocolate jello pudding and afterwards she ate some turkey meat and cheese puffs! I know chocolate pudding doesn't sound healthy, but it is actually a "Sensible Solution." It was sugar-free and a good source of calcium :) Anyway, I think I am pretty tricky. I am probably starting a bad habit too, but I am desperate to get her to eat! Do any of you have any suggestions on how to get her to eat?? I am just worried, because she will be off of formula in a few months, so she will need to get used to eating regular food!

What do you think?

Our attempt to get a fall family picture was fulfilled yesterday (well, almost). The only problem was, we were racing against the setting sun so we didn't have too much time to look for the perfect spot! One of the reasons we are trying to get a current family picture is because in December we will be able to reapply for adoption and will need a family pic. This will be the picture that the birthmoms will see first on our profile. They like the pictures to be crystal clear so that the birthmoms can see exactly what you look like. Here are the pictures we have to pick from. Please let us know which one is your favorite!

Photo #1- what we don't like about this one is, first, Haylee isn't in the middle of us, and second, it just looks like we are sitting in front of a flaming bush because everything else around us is green!

Photo #2- what we don't like about this picture is, it might be too far away, but we don't want to crop it because we will lose the background.

Photo #3- what we don't like about this photo is, it looks like we are hiding Haylee

Photo #4- what we don't like about this photo is, the lighting is off...

So, which one is your favorite? I know we are being picky, but we have good reason to be :) We are considering waking up on Sunday morning before church and heading up to Heber Canyon. That is where we took our profile picture last year and the leaves were beautiful! See...

Have any of your been up towards Heber to see the leaves? Are they already gone?? Thanks for your input!

Fall is in the air

One of the things that I love most about this time of year are all of the colors! We have attempted to drive up the canyon for a little over a week now, but every time we plan it, it either rains or even snows! So instead of the canyon yesterday afternoon, we headed over to Gardner Village. The shops were all closed so we were able to enjoy all of the displays in peace and quiet! We forgot to bring our tripod, so we failed to get a family picture. Oh well, Haylee's the cute one anyway, so we got tons of pics of her. Here are a few of our favorites...
