Baby Shower

Yesterday my friends and I had a shower at my house for our cute friend Sarah. She is having a baby boy on March 3rd (or sooner...) and we are all so very excited for her! We just had lunch, yummy brownies, and opened presents. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but still very fun! Here is a picture of us all together...

Top: (L-R) Sarah G, Danielle, Natalie, Claire, Sarah R, McCall, Brittany, Madalyn (sp? sorry Britt!), and Jenny. Bottom (L-R) Katie, Heidi, Kristin, Emily, and Brooke. What a bunch of babes :)

The salad that I made for lunch was a big hit and everyone wanted the recipe, so here it is: (just make note that the beauty of this recipe is that you don't have to use exact measurements. If you like basil, add more! If you really like garlic or onions, add even more!! You get the point...)

Balsamic Caesar Salad

2 bags romaine lettuce
1 container cherry tomatoes (cut in 1/2)
2-3 minced garlic cloves
1/2 cup fresh chopped basil
3 chopped green onions
balsamic vinegar
olive oil
shredded Parmesan cheese
croutons (your fav.)
Brianna's Asiago Cheese Caesar Dressing

directions: put tomatoes, garlic, basil, and green onions in a bowl that has a lid. Cover with balsamic vinegar and add olive oil. You'll want to add more vinegar than oil. Marinade in the fridge for about 1-2 hours before serving salad. When ready to eat mix: lettuce, cheese, croutons, and marinade then add as much dressing as you want!
Since I served this salad for a lunch, I added chicken breast that I baked in the oven, then chopped in to cubes and it was a delicious addition!!

Bound to happen...

Saturday night we didn't have any plans, so we were all just kind of lounging around in our p.j.'s and doing nothing. Haylee has a tendency to wonder off and get into things if we are sitting around for too long. Around the corner from where Brett and I were sitting we could hear Haylee getting into something. This is how our conversation went:

Jenny: "Brett, is the bathroom door shut?"

Brett: "Yah, I think so."

Jenny: "OK, just checking."

And that was the end of that. Well, 10 minutes later Haylee came around the corner holding this

Jenny: "Brett, are you sure the bathroom door was shut?"

Then, we went around the corner and found this in our kitchen...

And this is what the bathroom looked like...

And yes, there was some in the toilet too! Haylee was caught red handed and left a little piece of evidence behind (notice the binkie:). Well, we had to get her back in the bathroom to get a picture of the artist and her masterpiece :)

I know that this is something that kids usually do, but ever since Haylee was mobile we have taught her that the bathroom is a "No no" and "Ka ka," so she rarely goes in there by herself! I guess we just have to do a better job of keeping the door shut!!

We also wanted to give a shout out to Brett's cute parents. They came over last night to give Haylee and I a little Valentine treat. Haylee loved all of the candy and dove right in!! Thanks Steve and Lucy!!

Happy XOXO Day!

her shirt says: "You make my heart flutter"

We just wanted to wish all of our loved ones a Happy Valentines Day!!

On a side note, this is Haylee's new "Surprise Face" And her new- squinting face :) She is getting so big, yet still seems so young since she isn't walking yet and only has 2 teeth still :)

Husband Tag

So pretty much I have a way boring life and have had nothing to blog about for awhile now. So I was just tagged on one of my friend's blogs, so here we go...
What is his name?
Brett Steven Borg
How long have you been together?
It depends how you look at it... We met 8 years ago on Feb. 11th, but it was before he left for his mission and we weren't dating. When he got home on April 25, 2002 we never left each other's sight! So either 8 or 6 years.
How long did you date?
We dated for 8 months, got engaged, and we married 4 months later, so exactly 1 year!
How old is he?
almost 27 (next month)
Who eats more?
Probably Brett, but he still doesn't eat all that much! We are both pretty little eaters. Not on purpose, that's just the way we are...
Who said I love you first?
I did, but Brett said that he was about to, but just couldn't get the nerve to do it before I did. I think we both felt it coming at the same time, so it didn't really matter who said it first.
Who's taller?
Brett! That would be sad if I was- I am pushing 5'2"
Who can sing better?
I think Brett sings better than me. He definitely sings more often than I do!
Who is smarter?
I think Brett is way smarter than I am. However, I seem to know more useless info!
Who does the laundry?
I do the laundry. Since he works way more than I do, it's only fair that I take care of it while he is at work. And yes, I even fold his underwear the way he likes it :)
Who pays the bills?
I pay them, but with his money :)
Who sleeps on the right side?
If you are looking at the bed, I do. It's always been the furthest spot from the door :)
Who mows the lawn?
That would be Brett's job! I do all of the inside work and he does the lawn.
Who cooks dinner?
I do most of the time. Or sometimes it's both of us. On days I work I get dinner together as much as I can, then I leave a note for Brett on what else needs to be done so that we can eat right when I get home. He is good to make his Argentine meals every once in awhile too though. But, whoever cooks doesn't have to do the dishes and I hate doing the dishes!
Who drives?
Brett usually drives when we are together unless his back hurts too bad, then I do so that he can recline a little.
Who is more stubborn?
For those of you who know me, would probably say me, but I think we are pretty equal in this department!
Who kissed who first?
I think our first kiss was mutual. it just sort of happened when we were saying good night!
Who asked who out first?
Brett asked me out first before his mission and I asked him out for our 2nd first date when he got home from his mission.
Who proposed?
Brett did. It was perfect! He is still proud of himself for pulling it off without me knowing!
Who has more friends?
I have a bigger group of friends that I still keep in touch with.
Who is more sensitive?
That would be Brett- enough said...
Who has more siblings?
I have one more that he does. He is the only boy of 4 and I am the only girl of 5.
Who wears the pants?
I think we are pretty fair. Brett might disagree, but we are pretty good to make decisions together :)
