Easter Update

I wish I could post cute pictures of Haylee in her cute new Easter dress, but our Easter weekend didn't go so well for our little family :( On Thursday afternoon Haylee started to throw up! I was hoping it was just a little 24 hour flu bug, but this thing lasted for 4 days! I think we lost count of how many baths Haylee had and loads of laundry I did while she was sick! Since she wasn't feeling well on Sunday, Haylee and I stayed home while Brett went to church to teach our Sunday School class. Haylee threw up on Sunday morning at about 6:00 am, so we weren't even planning on going to Sunday dinner with our families. Luckily she started showing signs of improvement, so we decided to venture out. I think we brought a whole case of diapers and three changes of clothes just in case! We also watched her extra close so that she didn't put anything of her cousin's in her mouth! I still didn't trust her in her Easter Dress, so she will be wearing that this Sunday and I am sure we will take plenty of pictures!
We did have a little Easter fun though! The Easter Bunny came to our house and brought Haylee some candy (that is now all gone), bubbles, a bunny, and a cute new swim suit. Haylee loved the bubbles and it was good to see her smile at something since she had been so weak! I also decorated some really cute cupcakes for dinner. I cheated and had Brett bring home some un-iced cupcakes and butter cream icing from the bakery. They tasted better that way anyway! Haylee was also able to participate in Grandma and Grandpa B's annual Easter Egg Hunt. She was a little too weak to walk, so I had to help her around the yard, but she still had fun! We then ate a delicious dinner at Brett's aunt's and uncle's house, then stopped by my Grandparent's house on our way home. That stop was cut a little short by little miss Haylee and a little more throw up :( I felt so bad for my little baby all weekend. She had never been this sick before. She just wanted to be held for 4 days straight and just sat there with no energy. I am happy to say that the past two days have been a lot better. She is walking (or trying to) around again and is laughing and smiling. She did lose a little weight, so we are feeding her whatever she wants right now! Needless to say, I think Brett and I are ready for a vacation!

We're Approved!

Brett and I are pleased to announce that we have been approved by LDS Family Services for adoption! We are waiting for our online profile to get activated on their web site, so when that happens we will let you all know what our profile name is!
Brett and I are both so excited to be back on the adoption wagon again! We both also appreciate all of your support and prayers in our behalf. We know and understand that things aren't going to happen as fast for us this time, but we would still appreciate it if you would all keep your eyes and ears open for an adoption opportunity for us.

My Sweetie

I was planning on posting this yesterday, but ran out of time! I just wanted to wish my sweetheart Brett a happy birthday (yesterday:). I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful husband in my life. He is a hard worker, cares about everyone, supports me in everything I do or every trial I go through, and will be a great example for our kids when they grow up. Haylee also loves her daddy very much and smiles every time he walks in the door! Brett- I look forward to sharing many more birthdays to come with you (even if it means you go bald and gravity kicks in for me;)...

My favorite picture- Haylee sure loves her daddy!

Princesses and Birthdays

First of all, I just wanted to thank all of my dear friends and family for calling, emailing, texting, and leaving comments on my blog to wish me a happy birthday on Friday. I don't know how I feel about being 26 since it's one step closer to 30, but I guess it happens to everyone! I had a great birthday, which I spent with my wonderful husband, beautiful daughter, and my immediate family. The day was a little uneventful, but I wouldn't change a thing. I got to spend the day with people I love. Just a little shout out to my mom- thanks for taking me shopping and making dinner for everyone! And to Brett- I loved spending the time we had together considering your busy work week :) Thanks for working it all out, you never let me down!! And, I am excited for my new bike!!

Anyway, now on to the fun stuff. On Saturday my mother-in-law bought all of the girls in the family tickets to go see Princesses on Ice. The three grand daughters loved it! Haylee and Keili loved clapping and dancing to the music! Emersyn is a little older and was mesmerized by all of the price and princesses! She knew exactly which one was which! We are probably another year away from that. Lucy even bought the girls matching wands and necklaces, which they all loved!! Thanks Lucy for lunch and a fun day out!

walking around her palace when we got home- do you think we'll have to worry about her being a tom boy?

Our next stop that night was to our niece, Beka's, one year birthday party! I can't believe she is already a year old. Jason and Meghan rented out a great pizza place, which was nice because all of the kids could run around and go crazy without bugging any customers! Haylee loved all of the toys that Beka got and tried to open some of the presents before Beka could get to them :) Thanks Jason and Meg for a yummy dinner and cake!!
Beka wasn't shy :)
Jaxon was trying to sneak in a few licks :)

Now we move on to Sunday. Last night Brett and I had Brett's family over to our house to celebrate all of the March birthdays since there are 4 of them in one week! It was actually Lucy's birthday too, so it was great being with her on her special day. Lucy is such a fun grandma, mom, and mother-in-law. I feel so lucky that I have a mother-in-law that is so easy going and fun to be around! Just wanted to thank everyone for bringing all of the delicious side dishes so that dinner didn't take too much effort on our part!
Sorry, no pics from last night... just picture Haylee and 5 cousins running around and screaming with each other :)

What's new with us

Well, since we've been back from our vacation we have been trying to adjust back into our daily routine! I think anyone who goes on a vacation needs another vacation just to recover from their first vacation! On Saturday night we were able to hang out with our good friends the Ballards. They have a little girl who is 6 months older than Haylee. Haylee and Jakelle have been friends since the day Haylee was born! It was fun to get the girls together to play and walk!! Yes, I said walk. Since Jakelle was walking all over the place, Haylee decided that she needed to as well. Haylee still crawls (mostly on our hard floors) but she does walk quite a bit now. It looks a little like she's a drunkin' sailor, but she'll get better :) Haylee also had her 15 month appointment the other day and she is still tall and skinny. It's gotta be rough being "that girl." Just kidding. She is the 4th percentile for her weight (a whopping 19 lbs), 68th percentile for her height (31 inches, which is almost exactly half my height), and her head is in the 25th percentile. She also says as many words as a 18 month old would say! I knew I called her our chatter box for a reason :)

Haylee and Jakelle

Haylee also had the opportunity to meet Spider Man and Bat Man at her cousin Jaxon's 3 year birthday party! Our nephew Jaxon is obsessed with Super Heros right now, so a few of my brothers dressed up like Spider Man and Bat Man. Jaxon was convinced that they were the real deal! He wanted to show them his room, feed them pizza, and get webbed by Spider Man over and over! My sister-in-law went above and beyond and made all of the little kids that were at the party, their very own super hero cape! Haylee loved hers!! The kids also got pictures on the super hero's laps. I thought Haylee would be a little nervous, but she kept looking at them with a big smile! I think she was thinking "hey, I know you!" She wasn't fooled!

Super Haylee!

"I didn't know I gave birth to such Super Heros!"

All in all, it was a great week back! Now we just have 5 more birthdays to celebrate in March in our family. People need to simmer down in June ;)

Family Vacation

(Warning: this is a little long winded, but I had to remember everything...)
Brett and I had planned to go to St. George last weekend for quite awhile, but last minute plans took us on a detour to Disneyland too!! Brett's cousin's (The Strattons) were going to be there and mentioned to Brett that it would be fun if we joined them for a day. Disneyland is only about 6 hours away from St. George, so we thought, what the heck!! Our journey began on Wednesday after Brett got home from work. We headed down to St. George at about 3:30 and after a little stretching and eating in Filmore, we arrived in St. George around 8:00 PM. We hurried and unpacked the car and laid everything out for the next morning. Brett headed for bed around 9:00 and Haylee and I went to the grocery store to get a few things to have for when we got back. I tried getting Haylee down before the store, but I think she was a little nervous since she hadn't been to St. George since she was 2 months old! Well, after we got back from the store, she still didn't want to sleep by herself, so after a quick (we're talking 2 min.) shower, Haylee and I started to crash on the couch together, but Brett invited us to sleep with him (I didn't want to wake him up, but Haylee's crying already did that). Well, we all slept together until 2:00 AM, then loaded up the car and headed to California! Haylee and I attempted to sleep, but the car wasn't too comfortable :) When the sun started to come up we stopped in Victorville, CA where we filled up on gas and I got dressed and flat ironed my hair in the gas station's bathroom!! Then we were back on the road again! We got to Anaheim around 7:30 AM and met up with the Stratton's at their hotel. We all ate breakfast together, then headed into the park! Haylee was such a trooper in the car and seemed just as excited as we were for Disneyland! Haylee loved all of the music and little kids running around! Our first ride was on Buzz and it was so fun to watch Haylee's reaction to everything! She only lasted about 2 rides, then she was ready for a nap! She zonked out in her stroller for over an hour! Debbie (Brett's Aunt) was nice enough to let Brett and I go on some big rides while Haylee was sleeping. Once she was awake we HAD to visit Whinny the Pooh and his friends. For those of you who know me, know how excited I was for Haylee to see Pooh Bear! Then we were off to The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan, and Snow White. While we were waiting in line for Pinocchio I was holding Haylee and started to feel something warm on my sweatshirt. Oh shoot, you mean just because you are having fun in Disneyland, diapers don't hold more liquid?? I think her diaper was a little too full and it started to leak all over her and I. So, we had to excuse ourselves out of line to deal with the situation. Luckily I was smart and remembered to pack and extra pair of pants "just in case," but unfortunately I left those pants in the car!! So, Brett and I hauled around every store in Disneyland looking for a pair of pants that would fit Haylee. It took a little while, but we found some cute Tinker Bell ones on Main Street! After all of that running around we were ready for dinner and Haylee was getting ready for bed! We tried to hurry and eat then Brett left to go find Haylee a microwave to heat up her milk with. Haylee refuses to drink cold milk :) After a few failed attempts, Debbie remembered that there is a baby station on Main Street! Sure enough, they had a microwave, just for bottles!! After all of that running around, we decided to hit the road!
Our next stop was to Grandma Vicki's house (my step-dad's mom) to spend the night. She only lives 2 miles away from Disneyland, so we lucked out big time!! We were so excited to see her and to have her see Haylee! Haylee didn't have any problems going to her, which we were thrilled about! We all hit the hay pretty early and slept pretty good (considering that Haylee laid horizontal between Brett and I all night)! The next morning we ate a yummy breakfast that Vicki made and hit the road again around 10:00 AM. The drive to St. George wasn't that bad and we split it up by stopping in Las Vegas for an In and Out Burger!! Haylee apparently is a big fan of their french fries! When we got to St. George we all just laid around and vegged out! In fact, that's pretty much all we did the whole time! We were all tired from the quick trip to California that we didn't want to do anything else but be lazy :)

We all had such a great time together and feel so lucky to have such great families that made this trip possible! Here are some pics and clip highlighting our trip...
