Vegas Vacation

For the past few months our family (especially me :) looked forward to this fun trip to Vegas! All the girls in Brett's family got to fly down to Vegas on Friday afternoon, while the guys drove the kids to St. George. Once all of us girls landed in Vegas, we checked in our hotel, went to dinner at the Rain Forest Cafe, and went and saw the Cirque du soleil KA. It was so fun just being with the girls and not having to be on a kid's schedule :) The show KA is a must see if you go to Vegas! It's the 1st Cirque show I've ever seen, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but they did an amazing job! I loved every minute of it! The next day we were able to sleep in a little bit and shop a lot!! We went to some really fun stores and even drove out of our way to Henderson for a fabulous store with great deals!! Yes, I even broke in and bought some skinny jeans on this trip ;)
All the girls going to KA (L-R) Aunt Debbie, Jamie, Lucy, Stephanie, Kristi, Megan, April, and Me)
sporting our Ute attire and shopping!

All things have to come to an end and the boys finally drove down and met us with all the kids! Just kidding, you know we all love our kids, but I'd be lying if I said we weren't enjoying our little time without them. Anyway, after meeting them at the hotel all the Mommies fixed the girl's hair and headed to the UNLV vs. Utah game. It was hard to see if the Utes had a good turn out because everyone was in red! It was a good game though and all the cousins loved climbing from bench to bench playing with each other!

The next day was also eventful! After breakfast and Dylan's nap, we headed over to an outdoor mall near the Vegas airport that had a great little playground! The kids loved it and had a great time! The park also had a splash park and Haylee couldn't resist but to play in it, so we had to strip her down to her skimpies since she didn't have a swim suit with her. But at that age, who cares right? Dylan also thought he wanted in on the fun, but the second he went out to the water a huge sprinkler came up and hit him in the behind! He wasn't a big fan of that, so he got out of there as fast as he could! After the park Haylee didn't have enough fun in the water, so I took her swimming for a little bit while Daddy and Dylan hung out in the hotel room. After swimming we grabbed a bite to eat, then it was farewell to Brett! His dad and him were lucky and got to go see Bob Dylan in concert. For those of you that don't know- Brett is a huge Dylan fan (hence our son's name). So, what does a mommy and 2 kids do all by themselves in Vegas?? You find the nearest Wal Mart and go shopping :) The breakfast buffet just didn't cut it for us, so I decided to go buy fruit, juice, and granola bars for the next day. And since I was nice enough to let Brett go see a concert in Vegas without me, I rewarded myself with a pint of Ben and Jerry's Cookie Dough Ice Cream :) I even bought 48 spoons just so I could have one to eat with! I did go to the deli first to see if they had one I could have, but the lady said they have been out of spoons for while. I thought that was a little strange since the deli is in a Wal Mart! Couldn't they just go grab a box of spoons from the shelf?? Anyway, the extra 47 spoons were totally worth it, the ice cream hit the spot :) I had to force myself not to eat the whole pint! Luckily the kids were very cooperative and went to sleep without a fight.

The next morning we packed up and headed home. The kids actually slept most of the way and we even treated ourselves with In-n-Out burger in St. George! All in all it was a great family trip full of good memories (except for the fact that Haylee, Dylan, and Brett brought home the swine flu! yah, I have no idea how I was lucky enough not to get it)!

Chick-fil-a is now...

Haylee's favorite restaurant. Not only do they have chicken, fries, and apple juice, they also have Cinderella and a dancing cow! Last Wednesday my sister-in-law Kristi told us about a princess party that Chick-fil-a was hosting at the Fashion Place Mall. They had a real Cinderella (yes, she was the real deal, just ask Haylee), they did the girls hair and make up courtesy of Aveda, and had princess things to color and play with. Haylee was in heaven to say the least! She kept hogging all of Cinderella's attention! Dylan also liked the cow and made a little friend while we were there. Seriously, every time I turned around, this random kid was holding Dylan! Anywho, we all left happy with our tummies full of chicken goodness! It was a good night out for all of us!

Haylee was thrilled Cinderella was there!

Haylee didn't want Dylan to feel left out. You can tell he looks so amused :)

When the cow showed up, both kids were super excited!

Haylee getting her hair done!

She LOVED getting her make up done!

Haylee loved her makeover and had to run right over to Cinderella to show her!

And then they spun in circles, because that's what princesses do

Cousin Keili joining in on the fun!

It doesn't get much cheesier that this!

pretty princesses!

And her night wouldn't be complete without a dance with the cow!

13 months!

It seems like yesterday my little man turned 1 and now he is 13 months!! Dylan is turning into quite the little ham these days and we just love it! He's also becoming a little stinker too, but I actually like that too :) Here is a picture of one of his latest... If you happen to get mad at Dylan for something, he just closes his eyes. I think he thinks- if I can't see you, you can't see me! I had just gotten after him for throwing food on the floor and this is what I got...

What a nut! Last night he also started walking! He took his first 4 steps a week ago and for some reason last night he just decided to take off! I think his record was like 10 in a row! We were all so excited for him and were clapping and cheering, which was a little much for him because he started to cry! He got over it pretty quick and got right back up and walked again. He would still rather crawl, but we were thrilled that he finally showed an interest in walking! He would just rather crawl, which is fine with me, but at the same time he is getting pretty heavy so it would be nice if started walking soon :) Dylan is just a joy to be around and we just love having him in our family!!

When the dads are away...

The kids will play! And the moms do too of coarse! Last night during the priesthood portion of conference Kenzie, Jaxon, and Beka came over to our house to play. My sister-in-law Meghan is pregnant (yeah for #3) and wasn't feeling very well so I told my brother Jason to just bring the kids over and we'd do something fun. Jaxon, Beka, and Haylee are all three at a really fun age, where they can do more. So I googled Halloween Crafts, headed out to the store, and put a couple crafts together for them. Kenzie was a good sport and was right there with me to help!
The first craft we did were Ghost Necklaces. Each kid got 6 Halloween beads, a ghost, and beads that spelled out their name. They turned out super cute and the kids loved them! I think Dylan was a little jealous that he didn't get a necklace, but all he wanted to do was eat the beads, so I didn't feel that bad for not getting him one!

Beka's necklace (don't you love all of their Cheeto faces :)

The next craft on our agenda was a Halloween Treat Bucket. Of coarse Jaxon wanted a bat, because he is "Batman" and the girls wanted Pumpkins. They also turned out very cute and the kids loved helping with the glue :) All of them were very excited to show off their new crafts to their dads when they got home! I think I had just as fun as the kids and decided I need to do better at coming up with fun things like this once in awhile around the holidays!

The Circus Was In Town...

our attempt to get a picture of the kids together

Haylee of coarse wanted more pictures!

When the circus was in town last week we decided to take the kids! They both loved it! I think the horses, elephants, and dogs were their favorite parts and I don't blame them. All the singing in between was sort of lame. Both kids did get extremely tired towards the end. It was the kind of tired where they are so fussy and you ask yourself... "why do we even bother??" But the times where they were happy and excited made up for it!

Haylee wanted to "help" Dylan walk around during intermission. Such a good big sister!
